James Zeigler (June 23, 1954 ~ January 10, 2022)
James Earl Zeigler passed away peacefully at his home in Williamsburg on January 10, 2022. He was born on June 23, 1954, in Hampton, Virginia to John Ross Zeigler and Anniebell Zeigler. His brothers Charles Zeigler and John Ross Jr predeceased him as did his parents.
Charismatic and bright, James made friends easily. He had a green thumb and was an avid reader and researcher, enjoyed playing chess, tennis, and ping pong and watching sport and old movies. Well-traveled, James had adventures all over the globe and collected many treasured memories. He continued to support a range of charities including March of Dimes, American Legion, Southern Poverty Law Center, and a host of others.
Above all else, James had a good heart.
James excelled at school and attended the Naval Academy. Having served in the Navy, James had a keen interest in naval history and a remarkable memory for facts. While in the Navy, James married his first wife Sandra and they had Rebecca and Grace. In a display of characteristic perseverance, he graduated from the University of Maryland completing his degree. Later in life, James had the great good fortune to meet and marry Terry, his second wife, who passed away in 2015. He is survived by his daughters, grandsons Hugh and Edgar, sisters Gladys and Jean, brother Melvin, nephew Richard, and grand-niece Riche’.
He remains truly loved and will be deeply missed.
