Q1 – How do I sign on if I don’t have a user ID and password?
If you have have never had a password, you can register for the website by emailing the webmaster at webmaster@usna1978.org and you will receive an email at that address with a link to create a password. Your user ID will be the email address you wrote from.
If you have previously registered and are still using the same password in the system, then when you click ‘Lost your password?’ you will receive an email to reset your password at that address. If your email address is not in the system, you will get an ‘ERROR: Invalid email address’ and you will have to email the webmaster.
Q2 – How do I update my profile?
When signed in, click on the WordPress symbol in the top left corner W which will provide four options:
- Dashboard – does not apply, part of the WordPress core.
- Classmate Profile – allows you to update your personal profile
- Upload Photos – allows you to upload photos and label them.
- Profile – also part of the WordPress core, allows you to personalize the website’s colors and format if desired.
After selecting Classmate Profile, you will see this:
The categories are obvious, name and contact data but also several other categories:
- Under Hidden Details, we are trying to collect data for the Class Historian – your major, advanced degree (s), service, designators, etc.
- Also, if you are a grad, your first class photo should be there. You can also upload a current photo of yourself , your family or anything you’d like.
- Finally, beneath those photos is a spot to enter a paragraph on yourself, your family or anything you’d like.
Q3 – How do I upload photos?

classmates – allows you to tag a classmate to tie the picture to their profile,
typing in part of their name will bring up options to select - Company –
select the company for everyone in the picture - Category
– six options, Academy Years, In Uniform, Post Military Years, 35th, 40th , and 45th Reunions. Each will
bring up additional options to further catalog the photo.
Only the administrators can publish photos so after you go through all of this you won’t see the photos on the website until they are approved and published.
Q4 – How do I update or correct a label on a photo?
Please email the webmaster at webmaster@usna1978.org with corrections and updates to the labels on photo. Please be as specific as possible as to which photo needs to be updated.
