Class Snapshot – July 8, 1974

The Class of 1978 took the oath of office in Tecumseh Court on July 8, 1974. Following the oath, the new plebe class was given 20 minutes to say good bye to friends and family before returning to their company areas. 15 candidates who had accepted offers of appointment did not arrive to enroll that day and an unknown number of candidates who did show up did not take the oath of office. As a result, on Tuesday, July 9, offers of appointment were accepted by 15 additional candidates who were administered the oath of office on Friday by the Commandant, Captain D. K. Forbes, in Memorial Hall.
