Classmates,
This year’s “All Service Academies Challenge” has become the “USNA Great Class Challenge” focusing on the intra-class competition that has evolved to see who is the “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT). The Great Class Challenge has started and between May 16 -20 the Class with the highest participation wins the Challenge. It is not “how much” we give, but how many in our Class makes a gift.
Please join me by making a gift of any amount to make ‘78 the Challenge’s GOAT. Go to www.Navalacademychallenge.com to participate and make your gift of $19.78, $78.78, or whatever gets you in the Challenge. You can even designate your gift to support our Class 50th gift for the Alumni Center by selecting “Alumni Center Fund (All Classes)” in the drop down menu of funds. For the past several years ‘78’s participation in the “Challenge” has placed us in third place among the classes with ‘84’ and ‘65 in front. In 2021, ‘78 had 241 classmates participate. Let’s see if we can get over 300 this year!
Update on ‘78’s 50th Class Gift for the Alumni Center:
Our Class has raised over $540,000 towards our $750,000 gift for the Alumni Center from 145 donors. If you are considering becoming a plank owner you have until December 31, 2022, to make your commitment. Be aware that the virtual “Plank Owner” wall to be displayed in the Alumni Center will now be a physical wall listing each donor’s name. If you want to become a plank owner go to www.usna.com/give/1978 and make your one time gift or pledge. If you need assistance please call the Foundation’s Class Gift Director, Dan Quattrini at (dan.quattrini@usna.com) 410-295-4167.
BTW, the Alumni Center is currently under construction and is scheduled to be operational in early summer 2023. You can go to www.usna.com and view the construction via a link to a still camera that updates every 30 minutes. Additionally, you can click on a link to learn more about the facility and view renderings of the building and the surrounding grounds. These links are just below the opening page banner “It’s About the Mission.”
Thanks for your support.
Fair winds…
