The beginning of June marked the change of command for the U.S. Naval Academy Commandant of Midshipmen. RDML T.R. Buchanan ’92, USN, finished his two-year term on the Yard and was relieved by Col James “J.P” McDonough III ’94, USMC. Col McDonough assumed his duties as the 89th Commandant of Midshipmen during a ceremony located in T-Court. Prior to his arrival at the Academy, he served as executive assistant to the Deputy Commandant of Plans, Policies and Operations at the U.S. Marine Corps Headquarters in the Pentagon. McDonough earned a master’s degree in modeling, virtual environments and simulation from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2005 and graduated with distinction from the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy at National Defense University in 2014. Bravo Zulu to both RADM Buchanan and Col McDonough!
