Classmates,
Our Class Board has approved an amended version of our Class Bylaws. The bylaws, dated October 11, 2024, are now posted on our Class website (www.usna1978.org). You can read the updated bylaws by highlighting the “Classmates” tab in the menu bar and then clicking on the “Class Bylaws” page at https://www.usna1978.org/bylaws/.
The Class Board wants to thank our Bylaws Review Committee made up of Matthew Elias (11th CO), Chris Dougherty (14th CO), and Larry Galvin (15th CO) for their hard work reviewing our bylaws and recommending updates to the Board. They worked nine months and made meaningful and substantive changes which were unanimously approved by the Board
We would also like to thank Ray Kempisty (13th CO) who used his experience reviewing bylaws to ably assist our committee with formatting and consistency. Thank you as well to all our classmates who submitted suggested amendments and edits to our bylaws.
Finally, we would like to thank John Rudder (12th Co.) who in 1989, while serving as Class Treasurer, led an effort to draft our first set of bylaws and register our class as a 501(c)(3). The class and all who have served as class officers and trustees since then are indebted to John and to those with whom he worked for taking those forward looking actions.
