Dear Classmates and Brothers,
This past week, e-mails across our 9th Company brothers were sorrowful over the loss of another of their own- another one of ours, Bradford Jackson [Clay B. Jackson Jr.].
Fred Shutt had been called by Brad’s sister, Sissy Jackson, to report that Brad succumbed to complications from a serious stroke he suffered the Tuesday before. He died on Easter Sunday morning, 31 March 2024. For all believers, you can take comfort in knowing in your heart that on that Resurrection Day, Brad was accompanied by our Lord and Savior.
Brad was cremated and a Memorial Service is scheduled at 2:30 PM on 13 April 2024 at the historic, Robin [pronounced “RowBan”] Barn, 1616 Highway 31, in Arnaudville, LA.
Brad is survived by his best friend and wife of 38 years, Cathy Hebert, his widowed mother, Mary Jackson, his sisters, Sissy, Jenny Britton and his brother, Blake Jackson. Please remember them all in your thoughts and prayers.
We all will have our memories of Brad. He was a teammate, Shipmate, classmate, friend and brother. Many will remember him as his obituary reads, the “personification of the word, gentleman… [with] a value system that was far above the standard, always showing kindness, compassion, and grace regardless of the situation. He was a patriot….” Savor those happy memories. Here is the link to his full obituary, Obituary of Clay B. Jackson Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the nonprofit organizations Brad was passionate about: The Preservationists of St. Landry Inc., restoring the Prudhomme House at 100 West Bellevue Street, Opelousas, La. 70570 and The Oldest Governor’s Mansion in LA Foundation, Inc, OGMLA, 324 W. North St., Opelousas, La. 70570 which will distribute funds to the Bloch Street Space Performing Arts Center. You can also donate to OGMLA/Bloch Street Performing Art Space via the link https://gofund.me/397b4491.
