Classmates,
I would like to join with our Naval Academy Foundation to say thank you to all who gave gifts in support of building our new Alumni Center in Annapolis. All classes raised almost $17 million for the new center, and our great class of ’78 raised over $912,000 dollars from 256 classmates. Thank you.
Our Class has 63 Plank-owners (listed below) which ranks our class 3rd behind ’67 (115) and ’75 (86). Because of our efforts, our class will be recognized with the naming rights to entrance Gate 2 and a large permanent plaque in the North Terrace Garden between the Center and King George Street. The Center is on track to be completed around June and should be available to visit during our 45th Reunion this fall. Hope you will stop by.
The Foundation was bombarded with gifts towards the end of last year, so they ask all Plank-owners to please check the list below for your names. If your name is NOT included please drop me a note at glenwoods@verizon.net before January 27, and I will ensure the Foundation adds you to our list.
Finally, the Foundation plans to send you a “proof” of your individual plank sometime in the next several months so you can sign off on how you want your plank to read. The planks will all be fairly uniform with no rank or titles, but you will have a chance to tweak your plank when you are contacted.
