Dear Friends and Colleagues.
Effective today, I am beginning a nine-month sabbatical from the practice of law to reflect on this life and the wild adventures that have come my way. I got to begin my career serving my country as a United States Naval Aviator, four of those flying the finest fighter plane in the Navy, the F-14 Tomcat. I have been blessed with an incredibly talented and beautiful wife, Terry Gay, and with exceptional children, step children, grandchildren, and step grandchildren.
Professionally, I have been privileged to spend the bulk of my professional life at Zuckerman Spaeder, the finest law firm in America—what a stroke of luck it was to land at a firm with such fabulous lawyers and staff!
Over the next few months, after some minor knee surgery, I will prepare for a May hike on the Camino Santiago in Spain with my brothers and other friends who will join and fall off at various sections along the way. I intend to focus on life’s blessings and, I hope, to return as a more thoughtful and enlightened man, husband, father, grandfather, friend, and colleague.
Until then, please allow me to express my undying appreciation to my family, friends and, particularly in this forum, the lawyers against whom and with whom I litigated, the judges before whom I appeared, the clients I represented and, most of all, my wonderful colleagues at Zuckerman Spaeder—the finest group of people I could ever have hoped to practice with. Truly, I have stood shoulder to shoulder with legal giants.
See you in September!
Go Navy! Beat Army!
