Herb Nyberg (34th Co.) goes back to where the Navy was born (according to the NY legislature)

Herb Nyberg (34th Co.) found himself in Whitehall, NY, the city that claims to be the home of the US Navy. Located in a valley at the southern end of Lake Champlain, the Valcour fleet was built by Benedict Arnold in the summer of 1776 here. Because of these Revolutionary War actions, in 1960 the New York State Legislature declared the legacy that names Whitehall as the Birthplace of the United States Navy. The Whitehall harbor also produced ships used for service by the U.S. Navy during the War of 1812.
