Marty Drake (11th Co.) retired for the second time October 2023. Captain Marty Drake, USN, a career SWO who served 28 years in uniform and commanded two ships completed 17 years as an Air Force civilian in US Central Command as the Command Science Advisor and Chief of Requirements and Technology Division. His last year he served as the acting Deputy Director for Resources and Assessments (J8). His total time from taking the oath as a Midshipman to retiring as an Air Force Civilian was 49 years, three months, and five days. His retirement award was the Joint Distinguished Civilian Service Medal. Additionally, Marty’s wife Leigh was recognized for her work as the Key Spouse for the Directorate for her outstanding work with the families during the COVID Pandemic. Leigh received the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS) Outstanding Public Service Medal.
