Retired U.S. Navy VADM William “Bill” Landay III has been appointed as the newest member of the Thales Defense & Security, Inc. (TDSI) Board of Directors.
VADM Landay will serve as a Proxy Holder and as a member of the TDSI Government Security Committee (GSC). As a Proxy Holder and GSC member, he will ensure that TDSI continues to operate under independent management, as a cleared contractor, maintaining high level US Government security clearances.

Landay served more than 35 years in the U.S. Navy with various commands and leadership roles including the Program Executive Office (PEO) for Ships, responsible for the acquisition of all non-nuclear ships. VADM Landay’s other leadership roles, such as the Chief of Naval Research and Director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), attest to his sound judgement, leadership, and success supporting a wide array of military and acquisition missions.
VADM Landay holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy. He also has a Master’s of Science degree in Systems Technology (C4I) from the Naval Postgraduate School and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School. He was the 1998-1999 Navy Fellow in the Defense Systems Management College, Military Research Fellowship Program. VADM Landay is also a DoD level three certified acquisition professional and a proven subspecialist in C4I Systems.
