Bob DeStafney, a third generation Marine, served his country in the United States Marine Corps. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1978, he received his commission and began his career as a 2nd Lieutenant. He quickly took on many roles, including working as a Rifle Platoon Commander and a Nuclear Weapons Security Officer aboard a Navy ship.DeStafney’s passion for serving his country stemmed from his grandfather and father, who both served the United States as Marines. His father served for 25 years and fought in the Korean War. In the 1960’s, his father was stationed to Pensacola. From then on, DeStafney always thought of Pensacola as “home.” The Pensacola Blue Wahoos, Columbia Southern University, and Leidos are proud to recognize DeStafney as the Military Hero of the Month.
